Chile extends from 17° South latitude to Cape Horn in 56°. It is a country of diverse geographical conditions. Chile has the most unusal shape in the world because of its situation between Argentina and Peru. Geographically the country is divided into five regions: the far north, the near north, central Chile, the south and the far south.
Historically speaking about Chile, the history of Chile can be stressed back to 15th century when the first European sighted the Chilean territory. The drive for independence from Spain was precipitated with the usurpation of the Spanish emperor from the throne by Napoleon's brother Joseph Bonaparte. This is the period of “Patria Vieja”. The Chilean independence is however, celebrated on 12th February 1818, and the last of its territory, Chile was wrested from Spain during 1826.
Chile attracts tourists from across the globe. The greatest tourist asset of Chile is Andes. The Chilean Andes provides the best skiing spot in the Southern hemisphere.
