| General Introduction of the Cerro Nielol National Monument:
The Cerro Nielol Natural Monument covers an average area of 196.9 acres and is supervised by the Conaf. The Cerro Nielol Natural Monument is one of the protected areas of Chile. The natural monument houses four mountain routes, games for children as well as a restaurant. The "La Patagua" area was demarcated to commemorate the conclusion of agreements between the Mapuches and the Chilean Army in 1881. During this time the first Mapuches surrendered the land so that the city could be built and aimed at living in peace. The Cerro Nielol Natural Monument contains a ceremonial and a prayer area for the Mapuche.

The area must house one or more features of an outstanding value. There should be proper natural lineaments, like waterfalls, caves, craters, fossil beds, sand dunes and marine features, in addition to other types of fauna and flora. In the vicinity of natural monuments there may be natural lineaments, like cave dwellings, cliff-top forts, archaeological sites or natural sites.
The surface area must be fairly large in order to support the integrity of the lineament and the area around it.
The admission fee is fixed at $700 Chilean Pesos for the adults and $200 Chilean Pesos for the children.
